Monkey Island
Ā The Monkey Island orĀ Isla de Los MicosĀ is a 45-hectaresĀ natural reserveĀ that takes its name from the vast population ofĀ squirrel monkeys.Ā The elevated walkways and platforms throughout the area offer a real close-up experience.Ā The monkeys have proper behaviour and a complex social organisation.Ā Our local guide will thoroughly explain reproduction and feeding habits. Here, it is the perfect place to enjoy the breathtaking and fascinating fauna and flora while exploring hidden waterways through the rainforest.
Macedonia Community
Upriver we will visit an indigenousĀ village in Macedonia,Ā theĀ Tikuna community,Ā one of the native communities in the region. There, you can admire theĀ handicrafts designed and crafted by its inhabitants.Ā For instance, tapestries and dolls made of āyanchamaā (the bark of an endemic tree) andĀ beautiful accessories made from seeds.Ā Besides, spectacularĀ woven bagsĀ with āchambiraā (Amazon Palm tree), and a great variety of objects such asāpensadoresā (thinkers), walking sticks,Ā belt buckles and necklacesĀ made of bloodwood (Brosimum Rubescens Taub) or as they call it in Spanish,āpalosangreā, a splendid type of wood. If you want, this visit can omit or shorter to visit another community, which has a low tourist profile.
Puerto NariƱo and theTarapoto’s Lake
